At Spartan Heating, Cooling, and Fireplaces, we’re more than just an HVAC company—we’re your trusted neighbors. As a veteran-owned business, we take pride in serving Cedar Rapids and the surrounding communities with dedication, integrity, and top-notch expertise.
Meet the Owner: Josh Stevens
With over 12 years of experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, Josh has built Spartan HCF on the values of hard work, reliability, and a commitment to helping people. Over the years, he’s worked on residential, commercial, and new construction projects, gaining a deep understanding of what it takes to keep homes and businesses comfortable year-round.
When he’s not teaching Year 2 HVAC apprentices at Kirkwood Community College, you’ll find Josh:
- Camping with his family.
- Riding dirt bikes with his son.
- Cheering on his daughter at her soccer games.
Josh’s passion for HVAC and his love for the Cedar Rapids community drive everything we do at Spartan HCF.
Meet: Jared
Meet our Journeyman Jared. Jared has been in the HVAC trade for 6 years now, with multiple certifications to show for it. He is our go to guy for all things Geothermal and Mini Splits.
When Jared isn’t running service calls or installing new equipment you can find him camping with his wife and pups, out practicing his archery or at a shooting tournament.
Meet: Cole
Meet Cole, our 1st year apprentice. Cole has been in the HVAC trade for under a year. He is currently enrolled in school, in the hopes to obtain his Journeyman’s license in a few years.
If Cole isn’t at school or helping to install a new fireplace, he is most likely spending time with family, watching football with his dad, at the golf course or hanging with friends.

See What Our Customers Are Saying
We’re honored to have earned the trust of so many customers. Here’s what they’re saying about their experience with Spartan HCF:
The Spartan team did an absolutely amazing job replacing my AC Unit. I reached out to them as a second opinion after not being impressed with a different company's quote. Jared, who Spartan sent to assess the unit, gave me a comprehensive explanation of the problem. He was able to use Layman's terms, and ensured I understood all my options before committing to a solution. Josh, Jared, and the rest of the team are definitely very proficient, responsive, and professional. Will continue using/suggesting them in the future.
